The banc modular lounge system designed by jehs+laub was awarded the German Design Award 2016.

The international panel of judges, made up of architects, journalists, designers and academics, rewards original and innovative conceptual trends.

The banc modular lounge system created a sensation almost as soon as it was launched: already rewarded by the iF design awards 2015 and winner of the architectural innovation prize awarded by specialist journals AIT and XIA, this completely modular system, with its multiple variations and minimalist design, has been chosen to equip the university library in Freiburg. As for dress, it embodies a highly colourful interpretation of the classic sit-stand stool, with a moveable seat, providing comfort and improved productivity in the workplace.

Nominations for the German Design Award are not spontaneous, but candidates are invited to participate, which already represents a considerable distinction in itself: as the German Design Council explains, it "will only invite those products and communications services to participate in the contest, which have clearly demonstrated the ability to set themselves apart from the competition through their creative quality."

The official award ceremony will take place at the Ambiente trade fair in Frankfurt in February 2016.
